About us
Fishbourne Pre-School opened in 1996 on the site of Fishbourne School and moved to the purpose built building on Fishbourne Playing Fields in 2000.
The current building includes the main pre-school room, an additional garden room used for group work and more focused activities, and an enclosed all weather garden with nature corner, outdoor kitchen and ride on toys. Being situated on the Fishbourne Playing Fields mean we are able to explore and incorporate the facilities on the playing field into our day. We run well-planned sessions involving play both indoor and outdoor play. We also give the children plenty of time to engage in self-chosen and self-initiated activities and games
Each child is assigned a key-person who documents their progress using observations that are recorded in their individual Learning Journal in the form of a scrap book. We welcome parents to contribute and share their child interests by providing information and photos to build a good partnership from home to pre-school.
Parent and carer involvement is actively encouraged within the pre-school and we hold many fundraising activities throughout the year to help us buy new equipment and resources that benefit the children. The pre-school has close links with our local primary schools and we liaise with those particularly before the children transition to school.
We offer part-time and full-time places, which are allocated in accordance with our admissions policy. We are registered with Ofsted and West Sussex Early Childhood Services to provide morning and afternoon session for up to 26 children per session, 38 weeks of the year, term-time only, for children aged 2 years 6 months, 3 and 4 year old's.
As an approved Early Years education setting, we receive funding from West Sussex County Council Early Childhood Services. We accept both 15 and 30 hours funded places.
